Howdy, folks!

I stumbled across this hub from a post on BeeHaw. I resonate with bouncing from project to project, so I wanted to throw my hat in the ring. I've also yearned for the old, simpler days of forums as of late.

I am a Systems Administrator (w/ a focus on Infrastructure) at an IT firm by trade. I love all things tech, most importantly, servers & virtualization. I am an avid gamer as well - mainly the Simulation/Management genre. I also LOVE Counter Strike (mainly spectating as I am trash)

I recently completed setting up the *arr apps on my Docker cluster to streamline my (totally legit) media library. My biggest project I have in the pipeline is self-hosting Immich to get away from paying Google/Apple for Cloud Backup. Unfortunately, data centers have sent hard drive prices skyrocketing, so this is a work in progress.

Looking forward to seeing this place grow! I am also more than happy to lend a technical hand with the site - whether that is with the VPS or architecting the "vision".

I am currently going through (probably the most basic) server administration with setting up our VPS for the new forum/wiki - and I find that I don't like it much haha. I think I might like it more if it was just something for myself, but the responsibility of administrating a server for a whole community is proving to be quite a learning curve.
I haven't really played video games in a while, but I used to play a lot of Counter Strike: Source Back in the day :)
I have been temped to set up *arr apps, but it seems a bit intimidating to get the whole ecosystem set up and have put it off. Maybe one day when I have a bit more time on my hands ;)
As for lending a hand - I am always way too eager to accept help, especially on this project that literally is focusing on open source collaboration. The only concern I have with server side administration help is obviously the aspect of security and potential for malicious intent. But if the project is something you are genuinely interested in and wanting to contribute to - I'd be more than open to discussing it further.
As I am sure you understand, when it comes actual server administration - I need to be overly cautious.

Regardless, I'm super happy to have you! We are working to slowly get our other platform up and running, but we'll see how long it takes to actually get it launched. Since it is a Wiki/Forum duo, it is taking a bit of effort.

I feel you! It felt pretty daunting reading through all of the Wiki's, but I stumbled upon Trash Guides during my research, and it helped tremendously! Highly recommend checking it out when the time comes.

100% agree! Feel free to DM me, or make a post, on what you're struggling with and I'd be happy to lend some advice.

I've hosted BookStack & DokuWiki on my home lab to trial it out, but ultimately dropped both of them as I lacked the motivation to fully document my environment at the time. Another unfinished project!
